Rear Window is not over-rated. It is definitely a stunning work which reveals Hitchcock's mastery of the medium. But it happens with almost every work of Hitchcock's. People think he is over-rated. Check out the link below. It is from a series of interviews of Hitchcock by Truffaut. Maybe then you'll agree why it's such a perfect film without any flaws. :)

I haven't seen Rear Window, but I'd put North by Northwest at #7. Hitchcock fan. But just didn't like it.
